Understanding PCOS

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS, is a common hormonal disorder that affects an estimated 1 in 10 women in the US with many cases going undiagnosed. It's marked by a range of symptoms, including:

  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Elevated androgens
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Weight gain and difficulty losing weight
  • Insulin Resistance
  • Fertility Issues
  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Hormones and Hirsutism

Among the long list of symptoms, hirsutism - or excessive hair growth - is often one of the most distressing. Elevated androgens stimulate the growth of thicker, darker hair on areas like the face, chest, back, and abdomen. For many women, this unwelcome hair growth becomes an ongoing battle and a significant source of stress.

Reducing Hair Growth

When it comes to managing unwanted hair, traditional methods like plucking, shaving, and waxing have their drawbacks. They can be uncomfortable, require constant upkeep, and may not provide the long-term results desired.

Permanent Options

Laser Hair Removal, Electrolysis, and IPL are the three primary options for achieving permanent hair reduction.

"When it comes to hormone related hair growth, the hair is often dark, coarse, and often very noticeable for women. For the first time, Nood's IPL technology allows women to treat these areas conveniently from home, without the exorbitant cost of a clinical setting. The hair growth in PCOS tends to be more stubborn and recurrent so the ability to do the occasional touch-up at home is another great benefit," Valerie Hanft MD from Westlake Dermatology in Austin, Texas.

Here at Nood, we’re proud to help women struggling with hormone related hair growth regain their confidence through an affordable, at-home IPL option that is safe, easy to use, while providing results similar to professional laser hair removal.
